日前，由电子游戏发行商Zoo Entertainment赞助举办的第一届indiePub手机游戏大赛（indiePub mobile games competition）宣布了获奖作品名单，Android版本游戏《SteamBirds》（由Spryfox和Radial Games公司共同推出）一举夺魁，摘走最高奖项。

据游戏邦了解，该活动的评选对象今年7月至11月报名参赛的游戏作品，最高奖励是25000美元现金，外加针对其他手机、掌机平台的游戏发行合作机会。

indiePub大赛组委会认为，《SteamBirds》这款游戏定位明确，具有“很出色的音效和很强的可玩性”。

除了《SteamBirds》之外，还有另外4款游戏也获得了好评：iOS游戏《PLEXXR》获得最佳艺术大奖，Android游戏《Spark It Up 》是最佳音效大奖，iOS游戏《SKWER》是最佳设计大奖；Android游戏《Hero Mages》是最佳技术大奖。

SteamBirds comes out on top in indiePub’s inaugural mobile games contest

Call it the games equivalent of The X Factor, the winners of the first indiePub mobile games competition have been announced, with Android dogfighter SteamBirds taking home the top trophy.

The contest, which was designed to showcase the lessor known stars of the mobile arena, charged developers with nominating their wares between July and November, with a cash prize of $25,000 and the possibility of a publishing deal acting as a particularly large carrot on a stick.

SteamBirds was accredited for its clean presentation, with indiePub praising developers Spryfox and Radial Games for the game’s “well planned audio and strong replay value”.

Games galore

In total, five games have been honoured by the competition, with SteamBirds’ accolade backed up by a win in the art category for iOS release PLEXXR, top audio title Spark It Up on Android, iOS design star SKWER and Android release Hero Mages, which was named as the best game in the technical excellence category.

“Given the immense popularity of mobile games among consumers and developers alike, it was a natural step for indiePub to introduce a contest dedicated to this space,” said Mark Seremet, CEO of indiePub’s parent company Zoo Entertainment, which sponsored the event.

“The variety of submissions we received for iOS, Android and other platforms clearly point to strong developer enthusiasm for great mobile game experiences regardless of the smart phone customers prefer.
