1,There have been 11 James Bond actors in the history of super spy 007 across dozesn of films. And there have been 26 video games and five mobile titles based on the suave British secret agent.

And now Glu Mobile is doing something completely different with the mobile strategy title James Bond: World of Espionage. Instead of a Pierce Brosnan-style shoot-em-up, this game takes into account the thinking and serious nature of current Bond actor Daniel Craig, said Niccolo De Masi, the chief executive of Glu, in an interview with GamesBeat.

The title is a new twist for Glu, which is now best known as the maker of the celebrity role-playing game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. And it’s another example of how brands and celebrity licences are making a big impact in the mobile-gaming business. De Masi, who is speaking at our GamesBeat 2015 conference on October 12-13, likes to mix it up with a portfolio of different kinds of games and genres.(source:venturebeat.com

2,User acquisition costs are on the rise again — as we recently predicted — this time cracking a significant milestone in the month of August. That’s going to spell bad news for small app makers who are trying so hard to get noticed among a sea of bigger competitors.

Mobile marketing firm Fiksu reported that the cost per loyal user index (which measures the cost to acquire users who open an app three or more times) rose to $4.04 in August, surpassing $4 for the first time for August. The figure is up 36 percent since last month and up 117 percent from a year ago.

Significant year-over-year growth occurred in both the App Store Competitive Index and the Cost Per Install Index (CPI), Fiksu said. August’s results reflect heightened activity across the mobile advertising ecosystem, indicating that deep pocketed advertisers are putting ever-larger shares of their budgets into mobile, trading higher costs for greater audience precision. The takeaway for advertisers is that spending smart is a necessity to get in front of the right mobile audiences, Fiksu said.(source:venturebeat.com

3,Kellee Santiago, co-founder of thatgamecompany and former Head of Developer Relations at Ouya, has announced via Twitter that she has joined the Google Play Games team.

Santiago is best known as an advocate for the artistic and esoteric side of game development, first with Journey studio thatgamecompany and latterly working with the niche Ouya development community.

New challenge

Exact details of her new role at Google Play Games are yet to be divulged, but it has been effectively confirmed that hers will be a developer-facing position.

“I’m joining the Google Play Games team in Mountain View!” tweeted Santiago.

“So stoked to continue working with the awesome Android developers community.”

Following shortly after this tweet was a photograph of Santiago with some of her former Ouya colleagues, now based at Razer’s San Francisco office following the acquisition, with the caption “My last day.”

“Will miss working alongside this amazing team!” she added.(source:pocketgamer.biz

4,French studio Ivory Tower, which developed The Crew, is the latest developer to join the Ubisoft family. The studio will continue work on The Crew and the expansion The Crew Wild Run.

“We’ve always enjoyed a very positive relationship with Ubisoft. Working together on The Crew, and celebrating its success, made us both understand that we have huge potential in continuing to work together in the future,” said Ivory Tower MD Ahmed Boukhelifa.

“By joining Ubisoft, the team at Ivory Tower will continue to benefit from Ubisoft’s infrastructure, support, tools, technology and vision. In return, we will contribute our own expertise to the broader Ubisoft story.”

Ivory Tower was founded in 2007 by Boukhefila, Stephane Beley and Emmanuel Oualid and has around 100 members of staff. The Crew was released in December 2014.(source:gamesindustry.biz
