1，It’s early days when it comes to measuring the uptake for iOS 8.0 – something Apple says is “the biggest release since the launch of the App Store”.

And as pretty much everyone has commented, it’s certainly the “biggest release” when it comes to the amount of storage required to install the OS upgrade.

Although the file size itself is 1.1 GB, it requires “at least 5.7 GB” of available storage on-device in order to be downloaded and then installed.

For the majority of users, this requirement means they will have to uninstall – if only temporarily – a lot of games and apps.

It’s all friction in an ecosystem that has long trumped its simplicity and coherence compared to the massive fragmentation experienced by owners of Android devices.

And perhaps that’s why – according to the live tracker from app analytic outfit Fiksu, uptake of iOS 8 is – at time of writing – higher than iOS 5, but lower than that iOS 6 and iOS 7.（source：pocketgamer ）

2，Candy Crush Saga creator King has triumphed in its copyright case against 6waves, receiving an undisclosed sum and ensuring the closure of 6waves’ Farm Epic and Treasure Epic.

“We are pleased that this matter has now been resolved,” commented King’s chief legal officer Robert Miller.

“We believe in a thriving game development community based on fair competition. However, this was a case where another company sought to take advantage of the hard work and creativity of two of our games teams. In such circumstances, we will always look to vigorously enforce our rights.”

The lawsuit was originally filed last August and alleged 6waves had cloned King’s Pet Rescue Saga and Farm Heroes Saga with its titles Treasure Epic and Farm Epic. At the time 6waves denied the accusations.

“6waves cannot provide detailed comments at this stage but we deny all allegations of the copyright infringement complaint by King.com Limited,” it said.

“Puzzle solving games and themes like farming and jewels are not unique and have been created by many other companies. Such popular gameplay and themes cannot be copyrighted.”

6waves does have priors in this scenario. In October 2012 it settled out of court with Spry Fox over charges it had cloned match three title Triple Town with its game Yeti Town.（source：gameindustry ）

3，LAIKA animation studio, Focus Features and RED Games — a division of RED Interactive Agency — has launched The Boxtrolls: Slide ‘n’ Sneak, a side- scrolling action adventure game based on the upcoming 3D stop-motion family film The Boxtrolls (September 26). Available now for iOS and coming soon to Android, the mobile game introduces players to the crafty, cavern-dwelling Boxtrolls and offers a new way to experience the rich world of the film.

In The Boxtrolls: Slide ‘n’ Sneak, players journey through the world of Cheesebridge on a mission to rescue captured Boxtrolls from the devious Red Hats’ factory lair. They must guide a lead Boxtroll of up to three on a mission as they run, jump and slide to avoid Red Hats and traps while collecting gears and cogs through over 30 increasingly difficult levels. If the lead ‘troll is captured, the next one steps up.

Collecting gears and cogs unlock additional Boxtrolls and special power-ups. Players must collect light bulb rewards for level completion and perfect runs in order to defeat the Red Hats. Players can also visit Eggs in the Boxtroll cavern for tips and the ‘trolls human friend Winnie to earn special “Acheesements ” and rewards.

RED Games emulated LAIKA’s animation style for the game by using traditional animation techniques to create interactive characters from images taken from the film, preserving the hand-crafted detail and texture The game utilizes native gyroscopes in devices to provide a sense of depth with reactive menu scenes.
