Chillingo, Unity, AdMob and GetJar come out on top at ME Awards 2010
This year’s Mobile Entertainment Awards, otherwise known as ME Awards 2010, saw some of the big boys get muscled out by their smaller, more adept foe – although it’s fair to say Chillingo could hardly be described as a small fish these days.
Nonetheless, the UK publisher – which brought Angry Birds to iOS and PSP and has recently seen sales soar with the release of Cut the Rope – was named as the Best Games Company at the event, beating out new owner EA and Gameloft in the process.
Best of the rest
Google’s AdMob was arguably the other major winner at the event.
The firm picked up Best Advertising Company and saw the Outstanding Contribution award go to the now departed founder Omar Hamoui.
Other winners included Foursquare, which was named as Best Location Company, while GetJar scooped Best App Store – ahead of Apple’s App Store, no less – and Handmark Best App Developer.
Middleware specialist Unity – which recently announced the launch of its new app discovery arm Unite – took home Best Games Service Provider, with Android and Windows Phone 7 advocate HTC picking up Best Handset Company ahead of rivals Apple, Nokia, RIM and Samsung.（source:pocketgamer）
