Independent game company Sleepy Giant has confirmed that it’s unfortunately had to axe about 18 members of its team. A representative for the company told GamesBeat, “Some of our projects like Disney Infinity, Elder Scrolls Online, and Robot’s Orcs Must Die 3 are coming to an end with regards to the technology side and as such we have let some people go that were on those teams two weeks ago, which was roughly 18 folks, but we are still employing a good healthy company of around 50 people.”

Sleepy Giant is known for its fofofum toolset, which offers a “complete backend solution” for developers, and the company also provides a financing, marketing and live operations service with its giantbacked offering. Sleepy Giant has been involved in numerous AAA projects, including Skylanders, Call of Duty Elite and the aformentioned Disney Infinity and Elder Scrolls.

2，Microsoft might own Minecraft, but a third Sony system is about to get the block-building blockbuster.

Developer 4JStudios, which is responsible for porting Minecraft to the consoles, revealed today that Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition is due out Oct. 15 in Europe. The Lego-like game goes on sale on the PlayStation Network store for $20. If you own the PlayStation 3 version of Minecraft, however, you’ll get the Vita version for free. That does not apply to people who bought the recently released PS4 Edition of Minecraft.

With the Vita version coming next week, developer Mojang has now released all of its promised ports for the indie megahit. You can now erect the block structures of your dreams on PC, Mac, mobile, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, and Vita. Nintendo is the only one that isn’t in on the fun.

Minecraft is one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world. Mojang has sold more than 55 million copies on all those platforms, and that number is likely to continue growing. 3，Zynga has announced the launch of New Words with Friends on mobile devices, introducing a huge update to players of the multiplayer word game, with this update focused on introducing the features players have asked for most over the years. New Words with Friends now offers single-player gameplay for practicing one’s skills, a dictionary and more, all in celebration of the game’s fifth anniversary.

New Words with Friends has received an updated look and feel, to offer a sleeker, more modern appearance to gamers. The game, while inherently social, now focuses heavily on the connections users can make with others, rather than on continued interaction with “strangers.” As a result, the feed for games has been redesigned to show large profile pictures of other players, with green dots representing the players that are currently online and available to play and/or chat.

The base gameplay has been left intact, but has been improved with additional functionality. For instance, a dictionary shows users the definition of every word in play, alongside stats for how rare or how common the word is among the game’s players (that is, how often the word is played). This dictionary also includes an audio pronunciation of the word so players can easily add it to their own everyday vocabulary.

Speaking with Zynga VP of games, Jonathan Knight, and Vaibhav Sahgal, GM of Words with Friends, we were told players love to feel smarter after playing the game, so many of these features have been created with that in mind.

In keeping with this idea, when playing a word, an arrow appears next to the word, allowing users to measure how strong the word is in relation to any other word they could play. It should be noted this functionality is “off” by default, but can be turned on inside the game’s menu while playing. 4，The newest installment in the popular Diner Dash series has officially launched on iOS and Android devices, following Glu Mobile’s acquisition of Diner Dash developer PlayFirst in May 2014. Simply called “Diner Dash,” this free-to-play game follows the franchise’s time-management formula, and contains over 90 levels across three venues, as players manage the seating and serving of customers in Flo’s diner.

In each level of Diner Dash, players have a specific goal to complete, like serving coffee to customers or making color matches, as examples.. Regardless of goal, the overall flow of gameplay remains the same. Users seat customers at tables, trying to match the color of their outfits with the color of the table’ s seats for extra points. Players then wait for the customers to place an order, deliver their food, help them cash out and then clean their tables until closing time.Completing the same action repeatedly results in a chain and combo points. That is, delivering three tables’ orders to Cookie (the cook) before completing any other action results in more points than taking one order, delivering another customer’s food, and then taking a second order, for instance.
