Social game publishing is a hot topic in the social gaming industry. Players like Heyzap are making it easy for developers to get their games out to a large number of properties. The newest incumbent in this space is Platogo. Platogo’s value proposition is simple: they will socialize your casual game. Currently the company has 15 games on Facebook including some advergames and social apps and looking to add developers to test drive their platform on Facebook now.

Termed the Platogo Wrapper, Platogo’s platform is targeting developers of flash games who want to bring their games to Facebook without the hassle of custom integrating Facebook’s viral features.

Some of these include:

•    invite & compete with your friends for the highest score
•    send challenges to your friends and compete head-to-head
•    earn achievements and proudly display them on your Facebook Wall

Although adding in social elements like leaderboard, prompts for newsfeed publishing and sharing content does add depth to a casual game, social games have to be built social ground up. An important point to note when thinking about social games is that there are essentially 2 types of social games:

1. Persistent world games like the farm and tycoon games out there where players can return to and continue progress in.

2. Casual games with a competitive nature where players can come back repeatedly to the same experience in order to get a higher score.

Platogo’s targeted towards casual games who wish to add elements like leaderboards and such, essentially what Heyzap and Mochi Media offer on the web (and soon to be Android with the release of FroYo) and what platforms like OpenFeint and Scoreloop offer on major mobile platforms like the iPhone OS.

Platogo’s other value add is its constant adaptation that lets developers focus on what they do best: developing great games, without worrying about Facebook’s policy changes. The company is looking to increase its publisher base. It has long ways to go to catch up with others such as Heyzap who have amassed over 200,000 sites in its distributors network and have close to 3,000 developers signed up with them.
