1)Tap Zoo developer Pocket Gems has today announced the launch of Epic Empire: A Hero’s Quest on iOS. The game sees the popular mobile developer stepping away from its typical genres, and trying something new with an action game. Epic Empire challenges players with earning honor for their kingdom by defeating bandits and barbarians.

Players in Epic Empire have been forced from their home by a bandit, and can seek revenge by collecting and upgrading weapons and armor to help them stand a chance against the game’s progressively harder enemies. As players collect items from fallen enemies, they can equip them to their hero, or can use them as scrap to upgrade existing weapons.

Players are given their own village to grow and defend, with buildings like mines providing constant streams of coins to the player. Users are led through the storyline by quests, which typically involve exploring into unknown territory and defeating all of the enemies found within.(source:inside mobile apps

2)Free-to-play mobile and social game developer Nexon has announced the launch of Star City Tycoon on Google Play, bringing Monopoly-style play to Android devices with the colorful anime graphics Nexon is known for. The game allows players to take over properties and build their fortune while also competing against others.

Star City Tycoon offers single player games against a computer opponent and multiplayer with strangers or Google+ friends. Players pick from one of five characters and then take them around the board claiming properties. Each character comes with a special skill, like being able to move to unowned properties and purchase them at a discount, as one example.

Missions are assigned to the game as players begin, offering a chance for players to take money from their opponents by completing certain in-game tasks, like visiting the same square a large number of times, for instance.

Unlike Monopoly, which requires users to purchase all properties in a single color block before purchasing buildings for those spaces, Star City Tycoon encourages users to buy land, villas, buildings and hotels on any property they land on, so long as they have the in-game cash to do so.(source:inside mobile apps

3)Electronic Arts held on to the top spot of the iOS App Store game publishers by downloads for the third consecutive month, boosted by another successful month for FIFA 14. Below them, however, there have been some significant changes in the rankings. After rising 36 spots in August and another 3 places in September, Tencent continued their climb and earned the #2 rank among publisher by downloads in the iOS App Store. This growth is a positive reflection on the strength of Tencent’s WeChat Game Center and on the overall Chinese gaming market. With Tencent increasing efforts to expand outside of China, it will be interesting to see whether they can build further and take the #1 position.

Glu also built on momentum from last month, moving up an additional 2 places to take the #4 rank on the back of further success for Deer Hunter 2014. Storm8 moved up three places in October to be the #5 ranked publisher by iOS App Store game downloads. The publisher was primarily boosted by the release of a number of seasonal Halloween titles in late September and October based on their existing catalog of games.

Tiny Piece ensured that it was a good month all round for Chinese publishers when it moved up one spot to the #2 rank for publishers by Google Play downloads. This gain was largely driven by Beard Salon, released in late September, which performed well throughout October.

For other publishers making major moves in the Google Play rankings, it was largely a case of Google Play success mirroring earlier iOS gains. The release of titles already popular on iOS brought two publishers into the Top 10 this month: Glu and Disney. Glu rose 21 places thanks to the success of Deer Hunter 2014, released in late September on Google Play, trailing the early September release on iOS. Where’s My Water? 2 was also released on the iOS App Store first, but that didn’t prevent success for Disney when it was released on Google Play in October. Electronic Arts also gained in October, receiving a substantial boost from the release of high-profile title Plants vs. Zombies™ 2 in late October. The game reached the #1 rank for iOS App Store game downloads in the Games Index for August and September, and got off to a strong start in Google Play. EA’s downloads from Google Play were helped further by the strong worldwide performance of FIFA 14 in October.( source:Appannie
