A market analysis by global mobile media company, BuzzCity, has revealed that Malaysians love to steal cars and race them, on their mobile phones at least.

The most downloaded game by Malaysians from BuzzCity’s Djuzz mobile gaming portal in November was “Grand Theft Auto 2” and Top 10 list also included “3D Street Racing”, “Underground Racer” and “3D Need For Drifting”.

Malaysia is now ranked 12th globally in terms of mobile games traffic, with 97,000 unique users downloading 67,000 games in November.

The company’s latest monthly Djuzz charts show a 17% increase in games downloaded globally in November, bringing the total for the month to 7.6 million games.

However, the average download per Malaysian user was low at 0.74 games per user (compared to the global average of 3.75 games/user) even though Malaysian users view more pages than others (8 pages vs 5 pg per user globally), as they are usually browsing for more relevant content to download.

“This presents tremendous opportunities for local developers to provide relevant applications and games. Localisation is one of the key elements required to better engage mobile users and it’s likely that this trend will further develop in 2011,” said CEO of BuzzCity Dr. KF Lai.

The report also showed that the top phone favoured by Malaysian gamers is currently Nokia with 74.14 per cent of the market, followed by SonyEricsson with 31.19 per cent.

Dr. Lai said that as mobile marketing continues to mature, it is vital that brands do not restrict their strategies to smartphones as feature phones continue to dominate in many areas and incorporating such handsets within mobile marketing strategies is still vital.  (source:adoimagazine)
