1,Pretty puzzler Monument Valley received a new set of levels today called Forgotten Shores. The pack is available as a $1.99 in-app purchase for iOS, opening up eight additional levels for players to solve. The new levels slot between the game’s original final two acts, operating as a “director’s cut” of sorts, executive producer Dan Gray told Wired.

Forgotten Shores explores a few new gameplay ideas that developer Ustwo didn’t fit into the original 10 levels, resulting in more steps to complete the latest puzzles. As designer David Fernández Huerta put it, the developer is “asking the player to think ahead a bit more” in Forgotten Shores. Gray also noted that Monument Valley recently celebrated 1.4 million downloads since its April launch, a steady climb since it hit one million downloads in July. As for Android players, the Forgotten Shores update will be available “very soon,” Ustwo noted on(source:joystiq.com

2,Chinese online giant Tencent has published its quarterly figures for the three months ending September 30, 2014, reporting a massive 28 per cent rise in revenues and a huge 46 per cent jump in net profit, year on year.

During the quarter, Tencent raised a total of RMB 19.8 billion ($3.2bn, £2.04bn) in revenues across all of its businesses, with a net profit of RMB 5.7 billion ($923m, £584m) – a margin of 29 per cent. Of that total, the vast majority came from what Tencent classifies as Value Added Services, which is largely games. VAS made RMB 16,047 million, with online games jumping 34 per cent in revenues to RMB 11,324 million.

“This primarily reflected revenue growth in PC client games, driven by our major titles, recently launched titles and increased contributions from international markets,” the report notes. “Revenues from smart phone games integrated with Mobile QQ and Weixin also grew, with an expanded user base and full quarter revenue contribution compared to the same period last year. Social networks revenues increased by 47 per cent to RMB 4,723 million, due to increased item sales on mobile platforms and renewed growth of subscription revenues, as we enhanced our mobile privileges and mobile user experience for QQ Membership, Super VIP and Qzone subscription service.

“Our online games business continued to expand. For PC client games, the quarter saw a healthy YoY revenue increase as we benefited from growth in major titles, recently launched titles and higher contributins from international markets. For mobile games, we consolidated our position as China’s leading publisher for smart phone games. We worked with more third-party developers on new titles and achieved encouraging results.”(source:gamesindustry.com

3,Online game developer InnoGames has announced the development of Elvenar, its strategy city-building MMO for browser. Elvenar takes players to a fantasy- themed world, where they’ll choose to create a city for the Elves or the Humans, with this choice having a major impact on the way the game plays out. In the game, users build and upgrade their city, but can also interact with other players and compete in turn-based battles on a 3D battlefield.

After players choose to back the Elves or the Humans, they’ll notice their city will evolve in one of two distinct ways. That is, the Elves’ villages (pictured below) are focused on magic and existing in harmony with nature, while Humans are interested in forward progress and technology.

“You will see some of the elvish buildings really come alive with lots of fantastical beings, like ents and golems co-existing peacefully in their cities,” said Ulrike Kunkel, producer of Elvenar, in a statement. “The Humans on the other hand are a more technologically determined society. They focus on engineering to prevail. Our goal was to create differences in visuals and play style that make players want to try out both races at some point.”(source:

4,Agent Run, a new gesture-based endless runner, has launched on iOS and Android devices, and challenges players to run through environments, dodging obstacles with the use of quick swipes on the screen. Created by two indie developers from Vienna, Matthias Maschek from AgentDroid and Wolfgang Knecht of pixelclash, the game stars Robert Robertson, an agent on a mission to destroy Professor E. Vil and his Doomsday Machine.

In Agent Run, Robertson runs across the screen automatically while being chased by Professor E. Vil’s thugs. Attack dogs, closed doors, swinging logs and other obstacles are scattered on the path ahead of Robert, and players must swipe on the screen to eliminate these threats before he can run into them. For dogs, players swipe on strings hanging bones in mid-air, for instance. The dogs catch the bones, and become distracted. Most other obstacles can also be
eliminated with a quick swipe.(source:insidesocialgames.com
