开发者分享推广手机应用的若干建议

我最近扩宽了自己的社交网络,加入一些新地方,结交若干新朋友。有个人引起了我的注意,他请求大家帮他推广其手机游戏,这个作品几天前即将投入市场,但没有人就此给予回复。所以我决定分享自己的营销知识,出乎我意料的是,有许多人都缺少这方面的知识,他们一个个都通过Facebook联系到我,希望从中学到更多。

我的知识很多来自于自己的钻研及有经验人士的传授,很多不清楚iPhone/iPad游戏基本营销知识的人士都比我有经验,比我有才华。由于这些基本知识必不可少,我决定进行广泛分享,希望大家能够提高自己的曝光度、销量成绩,获得丰厚营收。

推广准备

1. Facebook/Twitter:无论处于多么初级的开发阶段,若没有给产品&公司准备Facebook和Twitter帐号,你将流失众多用户和粉丝。通过Twitter,你可以持续更新自己的进展动态,同用户保持联系,建立自己的粉丝基础。而通过Facebook,你可以频繁发布图片、视频和其他信息。

2. You Tube:有了自己公司的You Tube帐号后,你就可以提早公布早期视频、测试视频和预告片。你会希望将此同Facebook和Twitter帐号连接起来,从而覆盖更多用户。你定还希望自己能够通过youtube活跃进行社交互动和交流,结交新朋友,尽自己所能帮助他人。

3. 制作预告片,将其上传至youtube和Facebook,在周围设定链接。必要时候,你可以将其提交至digg及其他资源,然后创建相应的链接。

4. 制作宣传资料,这通常包括游戏截图,游戏所运用的boss和力量及其他有趣的内容。还有就是公司商标、游戏商标以及游戏销售册子(游戏邦注:这能够呈现游戏的具体内容及特色所在)。通过融入Twitter、Facebook和youtube链接,你就可以充分运用之前的支持方式。

7. 应用商店链接:你定希望将游戏的应用商店链接按键发散到各个角落,游戏页面、公司页面和Facebook页面等。这样用户就能够轻松访问到游戏的主页面。

8. 设计精致的游戏图标也非常重要(游戏邦注:这个图标将出现在应用商店中)。你定还希望自己能够制作出详尽的应用描述,优美的截图,将评论置于其中,发送更多新闻资料。

9. 我们在测试阶段收获一个最宝贵的经验,那就是始终和惯用测试者保持联系。向他们发送邮件,告知他们项目当前进展情况,让他们加入你的页面和Twitter帐号等。

10. 在应用商店中,应用关键字非常重要。不要浪费空间将游戏名称或公司名称纳入其中,系统会自动添加这些信息。要运用能够让你从中脱颖而出的词汇,例如“游戏”或“街机”等普通字段就不在此列了。

11. 设立开发博客,这能够帮你留住自己的用户,赢得忠实粉丝。

iPhone/iPad/Mobile Marketing Guide Part 1

I have recently expanded my network by joining a few new places and meeting a few new people and to my surprise there is not much help to be found except people spamming their products and links. This one particular person caught my attention, he wanted some help with marketing his mobile game and looking closer at the date, that was several days ago and no one took the time to give him any pointers. People spammed their links including myself but no one actually sat down and invested in helping someone else succeed. Why, because they are competitors? Give me a break!

So, I did the “unthinkable” and shared my knowledge and to my surprise there were quite a few people who lacked this particular knowledge, one by one found me on facebook and added me to learn more. Now, this was shocking to me like chucking down ice cold drink and having your brain overload, you know what I mean? I felt my brain exploding because I honestly expected people knew about this, especially the more experienced people but I was proven wrong. Sometimes it doesn’t matter if you have more experience or even more talented, sometimes YOU might know more.

A lot of my knowledge comes from spending months digging for information and experienced people willing to teach me what they know, and the people who didn’t know the basic about marketing the iPhone/iPad game actually had more experience than me and I bet they are a lot more talented than me. Since there seems to be a need for this basic knowledge I have decided to share it more publicly in hope that others will increase their visibility, sales and feed their stomach. Because here at FatCow Games we are ALL about cooperation and supporting each other, no matter how big of a competitor you are.

Marketing Preparation

1. Facebook/Twitter: I don’t care how early in development you are, if you don’t prepare a facebook and twitter account for your product & company then you will be losing several hundred customers and fans.  You would want to use twitter for ongoing events, happenings and keeping in touch with people, building fan base and generally staying in touch with anyone and everyone. You want to use facebook to post images, videos and other information as often as you can.

2. You Tube: You want to have a youtube account for your company and post up early alpha videos, beta videos, teaser and eventually the trailer. You want to link it to twitter and facebook to cover more ground and audience. You also want to network and communicate actively on youtube, make friends and help everyone you can.

3. Create a teaser/trailer and upload it to youtube, facebook and link it around. If need to be, you submit it to digg and other sources as well as doing link building.

4. Create a Press Kit, this would normally include screenshot of the game, showing bosses, powers being used and anything interesting. Your company logo and game logo together with a sell sheet which tells about the game and has bullet points for the features. This is where you make use of the previous pointers by including twitter, facebook and youtube link.

5. Website for the game: We normally use subpages to have almost dedicated info page for our games. You want to have an overview, features, selling sentence somewhere visible, social media links, review information and other required information.

6. Support email: We recommend keeping in touch with your user base, take them seriously and reply every single email and let them know you appreciate their help. If they need help you obviously give a great customer support.

7. Appstore link: You want to make sure you put the appstore button everywhere you can, on the game page, company page, facebook page and so on. This is so they can easier reach the game where it is sold.

8. Creating a nice game icon is important too, the one you use on appstore. You also want a nice app description, good screenshot, putting the reviews in there and sending out more press releases.

9. One of the most valuable things we experienced was the beta testing phase, always stay in touch with your old testers somehow. Keep their email and let them know what is going on, have them join your page and twitter and so on.

10. App keywords are very important in appstore, make sure you don’t waste spot writing in your game name or company as that is included automatically. You also want to write in words that makes you stand out, that means not “games” or “arcade”.

11. Always have a development blog, it will engage your audience and build followers.

12. Last but not the least, localization of a game will normally increase your sales and especially in germany.(Source:fatcowgames
