该电影还引进了另一名制作人John Cohen(曾参与制作梦工厂电影《Despicable Me》),他将携手执行制作人David Maisel(代表电影《钢铁侠》)共同负责《愤怒的小鸟》电影制作项目。

2)Informa Telecoms & Media

1)The Angry Birds movie is totally happening, coming in summer 2016

by Joe Osborne

In case you needed confirmation beyond the fact that Rovio really, really seems to love money, here it is. The Finnish studio that created Angry Birds has announced a time frame for the rumored animated film based on the game series. Summer 2016 is when we’ll see an Angry Birds film, TechCrunch reports, and the movie has another producer on board: John Cohen.

Cohen produced DreamWorks hit Despicable Me and joins executive producer David Maisel of Iron Man fame. The two will work together to ensure that the Angry Birds film sees the light of day, which shouldn’t be much of a problem. You see, Rovio also announced that it will finance the film itself.

The main reason for this is for Rovio to have 100 percent creative control. That should be comforting, because who knows what would have happened if another film house took over. Just look at the Marvel films before Iron Man and after. And based on Cohen’s experience, fans should let loose a sigh of relief: He’s worked on Ice Age, Robots and Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who.(source:games

2)52 per cent of smartphones will cost under $150 in 2017

by Zen Terrelonge

Market share of expensive devices will shrink from 85 per cent last year to 33 per cent.

New research from Informa Telecoms & Media claims the smartphone market will see a huge shift in pricing over the next five years, as more than half of devices sold will be priced under $150.

Consumers often complain the likes of the iPhone are too dear, which leaves the likes of Nokia and ZTE to lead emerging markets in the Middle East and Asia with low-end devices, which are set to become the norm.

Comparatively, the high end market accounted for 85 per cent of smartphone sales in 2011, but will fall to 33 per cent in 2017 as buyers avoid paying above $250 for their phones.

The average price of a smartphone was at $188 in 2011 and it will continue to decline to $152, driven by a balancing act between the high-end phones sold in developed markets and entry-level devices in emerging ones.

The price drop will force OEMs to compete fiercely with each other, though some vendors will struggle to maintain profitability as a result.

Malik Saadi, principal analyst at Informa Telecoms & Media, said: “As the market develops, the supply chain will increasingly be divided between two camps – the innovators who will continue to introduce new features and high-performance components to the market place and followers who will take this innovation to the mass market in later years.

“In any case, these players will have to align their pricing strategy with market demand if they want to survive. The new environment will make it hard for all vendors to achieve a balance between generating scale and maintaining decent margins.”(source:mobile-ent

3)Report Finds iPad Mini And 4th-Gen iPad Each Took 2% Of Apple Tablet Market Share In November

Darrell Etherington

The iPad mini and the fourth-generation iPad each accounted for just 2 percent of overall iPad traffic during their first month of availability, according to mobile analytics firm Localytics. Both were released at the beginning of November, with the iPad mini debuting as a brand-new form factor and the fourth-gen iPad getting internal component upgrades plus the addition of a Lightning port.

Compared to past device performance, however, the combined share of both iPads, while small, actually isn’t that far off the pace of previous new device introductions. The “new” or third-generation iPad, for instance, managed to top the original iPad’s share among Apple tablets in month two, which is still well within the realm of possibilities for the period ending in December, since there should be many more iPads in the market by then. This time around, LTE versions of both the iPad mini and full-size, fourth-gen iPad also weren’t available until toward the end of the month, and the impact of users waiting on those versions to purchase could have affected overall share.

Localytics saw the third-generation iPad climb to 14 percent of overall Apple tablet share within a single week of its launch, so 2 percent for both new models in one month doesn’t look so good by that measure. The iPad 2 remains the most popular version overall, still making up more than half of all usage of apps running Localytics’ mobile analytics platform.

Engagement, based on iPad session length, also turns up shorter average time spent in-app on newer iPads, including the shortest time of all on the iPad mini. That’s something Localytics chalks up to its smaller form factor, which may have users treating it more like a smartphone than other Apple tablets. Both also showed fewer sessions per user spent on average than other Apple tablet hardware, but the iPad mini edged out the fourth-generation iPad in this category.

For the iPhone, the iPhone 5 now makes up 12 percent of all app usage, trailing both the iPhone 4S at 42 percent, and the iPhone 4 at 39 percent. The iPhone 5, available since September, is essentially tied with the iPhone 4S in terms of engagement as measured by average session length, and it exceeds the iPhone 3GS in terms of the number of sessions per user.(source:techcrunch

4)Mobile indie darling Horn goes free-to-play with Quest Mode

by Joe Osborne

Did Horn ask for too pretty a penny when it launched months ago for $6.99 on the iOS App Store? If that’s not the case, then the folks at Zynga and Phosphor Games are just fine fellows, as Horn has been re-released as a free-to-play game. Available now, Horn Free offers players the “Prologue” portion of the original Horn story, along with an all-new Quest Mode.

The latter (which is available in the paid version after an update) sees players as Horn attempt to destroy all of the nefarious Titans before they turn the land to stone. Players fight a series of increasingly more formidable monsters, gathering gear and other loot along the way throughout a cave filled with secrets.

Horn Free also comes with a slew of player customization options and weapons to slay a bunch of new Titan beasts with, including a new flying type. Of course, the full story of the original Horn will still be available to free players for a $6.99 download from the App Store. It sounds like Horn just embraced its Infinity Blade inspirations even further. But if that’s in the hope of getting more players into the vast, gorgeous world that is Horn, more power to them.(source:games

5)$50 Android Smartphones Are Disrupting Africa Much Faster Than You Think, Says Wikipedia’s Jimmy Wales

Natasha Lomas

What phone does Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales have in his pocket? An unlocked Android-powered 3G smartphone, made by Chinese mobile maker Huawei – which was selling for $85 on the streets of Kenya last year and now goes for $50.

While the majority of Africa’s mobile phones are more basic talk-plus-text feature phones — recent figures from analyst ABI Research suggest 3G connectivity accounts for 11 percent of the continent’s overall mobile subscriptions vs. 2G’s 62.7 percent – 300,000 of these $50 Android smartphones have been sold in Kenya, according to Wales and African carrier Safaricom’s CEO Bob Collymore. The pair were speaking at Vodafone’s Mobile for Good summit taking place in London today.

“What I always thought about mobile in Africa…is this [smartphone adoption] is coming in the future — in the future someday,” said Wales. “Well the someday’s happening faster than I ever realised.”

Wales’ own budget Android was brought back from Kenya by a friend and is now his personal smartphone. “The screen is a little smaller than the iPhone, it’s not quite as good but the battery lasts two days,” he joked.(source:techcrunch

6)Privacy still a major concern for kids’ mobile games, says FTC

By Mike Rose

The Federal Trade Commission, an independent government agency focused on protecting consumer rights, has stated that mobile apps and games aimed at children are not doing enough to address privacy concerns.

The organization says that kids’ apps are not giving enough information to parents about the data that they collect, how it is being shared, or who will have access to it.

As part of a new report [PDF], the FTC also notes that many games aimed at kids connect to social media, and share information like device IDs and geolocations with third party companies, without disclosing this information to parents.

Jon Leibowitz, chairman of the FTC, explained, “While we think most companies have the best intentions when it comes to protecting kids ‘privacy, we haven’t seen any progress when it comes to making sure parents have the information they need to make informed choices about apps for their kids.”

“In fact, our study shows that kids’ apps siphon an alarming amount of information from mobile devices without disclosing this fact to parents,” he continued. “All of the companies in the mobile app space, especially the gatekeepers of the app stores, need to do a better job. We’ll do another survey in the future and we will expect to see improvement.”

For example, of the apps and games surveyed, the organization found that only 15 percent disclosed the presence of ads prior to download.

Meanwhile, the company also reiterated that in-app purchases in kids’ apps were poorly indicated, and that warnings about possible purchases that children could make “could be difficult for many parents to understand.”

This follows Apple’s legal trouble earlier this year, as a judge ruled to uphold a handful of claims that the company distributed free apps that trick children into money in-app purchases. (source:gamasutra
