1)Zynga and Vostu Settle Lawsuit

By Sebastian Sujka

Zynga and Vostu have settled their copyright lawsuit according to Vostu. As part of the agreement Vostu will have to pay an undisclosed amount to Zynga and change some gaming features.

In June this year Zynga sued Vostu for copying their games almost one to one. Vostu claimed Zynga did the same with other games and, hence, did not have a case against them. The mud fight continued by Zynga suing their shareholder Google over publishing Vostu games on Google-owned social network Orkut in South America.

It is likely that Vostu got away with a relatively mild punishment as Zynga is currently under pressure solving their existing legal issues before going public in the next weeks. Read the issued statement from both companies:

“Zynga and Vostu have settled the copyright lawsuits and counterclaims against each other  in the United States and Brazil.  As part of the settlement, Vostu made a monetary payment to Zynga and made some changes to four of its games. The parties are pleased to have settled their disputes and to now put these matters behind them.”(source:socialgamesobserver

2)70% of people just fine with how much info is on Facebook

By Colleen Taylor

Worried about how much of your dirt is out there on Facebook? Well, according to a new poll, you’re in the minority.

Seventy percent of U.S.-based Facebook users polled in a recent survey said they were comfortable with the personal information they have on the site. Twenty-three percent said they were uncomfortable, and seven percent had “no opinion.”

Facebook is such a hot topic that extra caution is needed when evaluating third-party information about the site, but this data seems legit: The survey (PDF) was conducted last week via telephone across 1,174 registered voters by Poll Position, the polling firm run by former CNN executive Eason Jordan.

Not surprisingly, the poll showed young people were more comfortable with their Facebook personas than older people. In the 18- to 29-year-old age group, 81 percent of Facebook users said they were OK with the personal information they provide on the site; in the 65 and older category, only 50 percent said they felt comfortable with it.

In some respects, the poll is surprising. After all, Facebook has come under fire from the Federal Trade Commission for allegedly being duplicitous with users about how their information has historically been handled on the social networking site. In response, Facebook has made a series of recent feature additions aimed at making it easier for users to understand how much of their data is visible on Facebook and to whom, so that could play a part in the current public opinion. But the poll also makes sense on a basic level: Facebook probably wouldn’t be as widely used as it is — more than 800 million users at the moment — if all those people were uncomfortable with sharing on the site.(source:gigaom

3)Ngmoco’s Mobage To Utilize MoPub Ad Serving Platform

by Tom Curtis

The DeNA-owned Ngmoco has signed a new deal with mobile ad platform MoPub, which provides mobile publishers with a unified system for selling and controlling the ads that appear within mobile apps.

MoPub, founded by veterans from Google and mobile ad service AdMob in 2010, feeds ads into mobile games and aims to help publishers sell directly to advertisers, manage ads, and conduct real-time bidding campaigns through the service’s MoPub Marketplace.

Ngmoco announced that it will be using MoPub’s ad serving platform worldwide, particularly to power ad distribution and increase revenues on the company’s Android-based Mobage network.

“MoPub will open access to new revenue opportunities for us by selling spots directly to advertisers, leveraging ad networks or even auctioning impressions on Marketplace to drive pricing,” said Jason Oberfest, VP of social apps at Ngmoco. “We are impressed with the efficiencies that MoPub brings to the table, even as we retain the control we desire.”

In addition, mobile gaming startup Neon Play (Traffic Panic 3D) has also revealed plans to adopt the MoPub platform. For reference, previous MoPub partners include Animoca, Miniclip, Fluik, and Com2Us.

MoPub also recently announced that has added support for games built with Unity 3D, and that it has adopted the ORMMA and MRAID industry standards, which will allow for more robust and complex ads within the MoPub platform.(source:gamasutra

4)Facebook Pokémon clone MinoMonsters migrates to iOS for $1

by Joe Osborne

You might remember MinoMonsters, game developer Josh Buckley’s take on Pokémon for Facebook. Well, that game was either just a test or a flop for the 17-year-old entrepreneur, as his new studio has re-released the game as an iPhone and iPad app. In this new-and-improved MinoMonsters, players must journey across the Kingdom of Zancardi, capturing and battling creatures called Minos for, well, the sake of battling monsters. Come on, it’s not as if Pokémon’s plot is rock solid either.

The youngin’s new studio is called MinoMonsters Inc., so you can tell the guy’s dedicated to the concept, which will cost you $.99 on the App Store. Once purchased, you can start trading blows back and forth in turn-based bouts with opponents’ monsters either within the game’s story or your friends from anywhere in the world. Just like in Pokémon, players’ monsters gain new abilities and will become stronger, which helps players find new monsters and defeat tougher opponents.

The first thing we noticed with these screens of the game in action are the impressive, seemingly hand-drawn graphics. Seriously, this game looks like an episode of Pokémon–look, the comparisons are inevitable at this point–at least when still. MinoMonsters (the company) promises that you can find players to do battle with in under 30 seconds. The game’s primary competition on iOS, Monster Galaxy, doesn’t seem to have multiplayer just yet. So, now MinoMonsters is the closest you’re going to get a Pokémon game on your iPhone.(source:games
