1）MySpace Stabilizes Unique Visitors, But All Other Usage Stats Plummet

Check out the graph in my March post about MySpace’s free fall in usage. After a long decline you’d expect a site like MySpace to plateau and find some sort of stable group of users. Instead, all the data says their decline is actually accelerating.

So I was surprised to see unique visitors level off over the last two months, according to Comscore. And by level off, I mean a straight line floor at about 62 million worldwide monthly visitors and 37 million U.S. visitors. Look at that chart. It’s just weird. Uniques should have fallen another 8 million or so. Instead, MySpace held the line.

Curious, I dug a little deeper into their stats. Not good.

While worldwide uniques were flat at 62 million, average daily visitors dropped 13% during the month, total time on site dropped 23% and total page views dropped 23% to 3 billion.

U.S. usage dropped even more dramatically. Uniques were flat at 37 million, but daily visitors fell 28%, total time on site dropped 48% and page views dropped a whopping 50% from February 2011 to April 2011 (a two month period).（source:techcrunch）

4）Large Animal Games, 6waves, Starz Look to International Market for Spartacus Off Season

Spartacus: The Game (a.k.a. Spartacus: Gods of the Arena: The Game) launched on Facebook in January to coincide with the release of the a prequel to the Starz Spartacus TV series. Now that the six-episode run of the show is complete, developer Large Animal Games is looking to publisher 6waves to get the game localized ahead of the TV show’s air dates in foreign territories.

When the game launched, Spartacus showed strong growth in daily active users and monthly active users, climbing to an all-time high of 1.1 MAU users and and 123,000 DAU between March and April. By that time, the six-episode prequel series had been done for over a month and it appears as though the game waned a little through the end of April. Starting in May, the game is showing an uptick again in both MAU and DAU as new content rolls out within the game and publisher 6waves localizes it for foreign territories in Europe where the TV show is only just beginning to air or will air over the summer.（source:insidesocialgames）

5）Live Gamer Partners With Skrill To Create Monetization Engine

Online monetization platform Live Gamer has announced a partnership with Skrill, the operator of payment provider Moneybookers, in aid of creating a monetization engine made especially for online game publishers.

Live Gamer Payments by Skrill integrates Moneybookers’ payments platform with Live Gamer’s commerce solution to offer publishers and developers a means for maximizing user acquisition and retention, managing digital sales and boosting online revenue.

The new set-up offers access to over 100 payment methods in 200 territories worldwide, including country-specific transfers, prepaid cards and Facebook credits. The scheme also allows micropayments to be easily incorporated into mobile games, with settlements available in 41 different currencies.

The model supports one-time transactions, recurring payments and the “freemium” payment system. Live Gamer says that the new setup will increase conversion rates while eliminating risk of fraud.（source:gamasutra）

6）JCE Rolls Out Android Version of Mobile Social Game ‘Rule the Sky’

7）Quepasa Corporation Reports First Quarter 2011 Results

Quepasa.com, the popular online social network and game platform for the Latino community operated by Quepasa Corporation (NYSE Amex: QPSA), reported results for its first fiscal quarter of 2011 ended March 31, 2011.

Revenues for the quarter totaled $2.2 million, a sequential increase of 21% from the prior quarter’s revenues of $1.9 million, and up nearly 600% from $322 thousand in the first quarter of 2010.

These revenues were primarily related party DSM. (See “Important Disclosures,” below, regarding revenue sources.)

Net loss for the first quarter 2011 was $1.5 million or 10 cents per basic and diluted share. 8）Facebook Blocks Mark Zuckerberg’s Account

Facebook doesn’t want anyone impersonating others — it’s a misdemeanor in California. And the most egregious possible impersonation just might be trying to pass yourself off as company’s chief executive officer and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Unfortunately having the same name as Facebook’s CEO means the Indianapolis bankruptcy attorney named Mark Zuckerberg can’t use the social network. He’s been trying to get that reversed.

Facebook has blocked the attorney’s account on the site but hasn’t taken down his business page, which includes a link to the lawyer’s business website, ZuckLaw.com.

A separate website IAmMarkZuckerberg.com, explains that he’s not trying to impersonate Facebook’s CEO but has the odd luck of having the same name.（source:allfacebook）

One of Konami’s goals is to further focus on this market and Hudson has been assigned to use their network expertise for this purpose.

Earlier this year, Konami fully acquired Hudson and shut down their U.S. division, Hudson Entertainment. Hudson’s legacy includes Adventure Island, Bloody Roar, Bonk, and of course Bomberman.
