‘Rock Band’ developer: ‘Guitar Hero’ troubles ‘discouraging’

Developers at Harmonix Music Systems, creators of the music game Rock Band, were sad to hear Activision is halting work on new releases of rival game Guitar Hero, according to a response from designer John Drake.

In a post on the official Rock Band forums, Drake called the news “discouraging.”

“Our thoughts are with those who are losing their jobs, and we wish them the best of luck,” Drake writes in response.

Drake says Harmonix has focused more on “building a robust digital platform” as sales of Rock Band and other related titles continue dropping.

Drake also used his response to reassure fans of the series. “The beat of Rock Band marches on,” Drake says. “We’re continuing to invest in the franchise and the brand that we have built, and will do our best to serve all loyal band game fans.”（source:usatoday）
