We’ll just come out and say it: there are too many social games. Alright, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it can be a pain tracking all of them–not to mention your friends. GameGround wants to change all that through its unique web app that can collect a wide selection your PC, Xbox (in a future release), Facebook and casual web games into one, easy to manage portal. With features like stat tracking across profiles, level-up mechanics, missions and Gadgets (achievements or badges for the traditional folk), GameGround turns all of your gaming into a meta experience.

Essentially, GameGround aims to be the leaderboard of all games. Players can also find new games to play on the various platforms based on what they’re playing already, which is starting to become somewhat of a trend. As for Facebook games, GameGround already supports some of the biggest titles from Zynga, PopCap and Playfish like FarmVille, Pet Society and Bejeweled Blitz. Thankfully, GameGround supports Facebook Connect so you don’t lose touch with your friends there.

Everything about GameGround seems to be about the gamification, if you will, of… games. Itzik Ben-Bassat, ex-Blizzard Entertainment executive and Co-Founder and Chairman of GameGround is confident that GameGround will be the one place people will go to socialize while gaming.

Whether GameGround is successful, it’s start ups like these that are making quite a statement about how fragmented our gaming has become over the years over several different platforms.
