On stage at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco, Zynga chief Mark Pincus said that 320 million people had played Zynga games to date. He unveiled a number of other interesting figures.

Zynga’s games see more than 3 million concurrent users during peak times in a day, and at any point in the day, four of your friends will be playing a Zynga game. The FarmVille-maker also talked about what’s to come in the future.

First, the company will put a lot of focus on new intellectual property to move beyond its current aging hit titles like FarmVille, which is seeing a major decline in users on Facebook. By the end of the quarter, it will have put 400 of its employees on developing new IP, or almost one-third of its 1,300 total employees. But Pincus said he doesn’t necessarily think in terms of games but “game mechanics.”

Pincus said he’s also focused on making Zynga’s network of game players itself, “dog-activated,” meaning that people will want to interact socially on the network even when they don’t have time to play the games. “Users can get the social interaction with their friends even if you dont have time to play the games,” Pincus said.

With these strategies, Pincus wants Zynga to be the “social games dial tone” of the Web, much like music service Pandora is the music dial-tone or Facebook is the social dial-tone.（source：forbes）
