The publisher has closed Shinra Technologies, a division working on cloud-based technologies that would allow games to bypass the forced limitations of native hardware and deliver more impressive graphics, according to Engadget. Square Enix will lose about $16.8 million by closing Shinra.
Square Enix made the decision to close the division after it failed to find capital from outside investors. Shinra was testing its cloud-gaming technology with Google Fiber in Kansas City and Verizon Fios in Texas.

2，Apple has announced that its App Store has brought in nearly $40 billion in revenue for developers worldwide since 2008, with $20 billion of this generated in 2015 alone.
This was announced alongside Apple’s news of its record-breaking earnings across the Christmas and New Year’s period, specifically in the two weeks ending 3 January.
That period saw customers spending $1.1 billion on both apps and in-app purchases, with $144 million spent on January 1, 2016 alone.
Apple highlighted the success of games such as Clash of Clans, Monster Strike, Game of War – Fire Age and Fantasy Westward Journey.
“The App Store had a holiday season for the record books,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
