1，Who wants another exciting instalment of Temple Run? Mostly everyone really. Say what you will about other Endless Runners, but Temple Run and Temple Run 2 are exceptionally addictive thanks to their simple gameplay that has you itching for ‘just one more go’.
If you’re one of those addicts, you’ll be pleased to see this teaser trailer for Temple Run 2: Frozen Shadows even if, much like us, you have no clue what it means exactly. The 15 second trailer depicts a name, the Temple Run icon, and an icy background and, well, that’s it.
Is it a tie-in for everyone’s favorite Disney movie? Probably not, as it looks a little foreboding (though it wouldn’t be the first Disney tie-in). Is it a content update for Temple Run 2? Likely. Could it be a spin-off title? Maybe, but we’ve got a feeling it’s a content update, hopefully with some new scenery and maybe a new character to boot.（source：gamezebo.com ）
2，Reykjavik, Iceland-based developer CCP Games has announced that it has raised $30 million in an effort to bolster the development of VR content.
Venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates contributed, with private equity firm Novator Partners LLP also participating.
The money will go towards development of the upcoming EVE: Valkyrie for Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR, Gunjack for the Gear VR, and further VR development.
Strength and legacies
“We believe VR will revolutionize not just videogames, but the wider technology and media industry as a whole,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP.
“We were there at the beginning, and this investment will give us strength to maintain our leading development efforts.”
As part of the deal, Harry Weller, General Partner at NEA, has joined CCP’s Board of Directors and Andrew Schoen, also of NEA, will be joining as Deputy Director.
“We’ve been admirers of CCP for quite some time,” said Weller.
“Their legacy with EVE Online and early investments in VR have put them in a leadership position, and we want to partner with them to further build on the great platform they have already established.”
However, not everyone is so positive about VR; with Unity founder David Helgason recently warning VR developers to ensure they have 2-4 years of funding, because “VR is as risky as hell”.
At least with $30 million in the bank, CCP seems to have mitigated that criticism. （source：pocketgamer.biz ）
3，Blizzard Entertainment said today that more than 1 million people have purchased StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void in its first 24 hours on sale.
The PC sci-fi real-time strategy game expansion is the long-awaited finale in the StarCraft II story. Legacy of the Void is perhaps one of the biggest PC games in a holiday season that is filled with new console and computer releases. Its single-player campaign wraps up 17 years of story in a series that has become a huge part of video game pop culture.
Legacy of the Void is a standalone release, where you don’t have to already own StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which came out in 2010, or its first expansion, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, which debuted in 2013. But it sure helps to know the backstory, as it’s a complicated narrative. At a time when the consoles are cranking out big titles for the fall, Legacy of the Void is an important release (along with Fallout 4) for the tens of millions of fans of PC gaming, as it will keep them loyal to the platform that represents the leading edge of gaming and technology.（source：venturebeat.com ）
4，Game of War publisher uses Arnold Schwarzenegger as pitchman for Epic War division’s Mobile Strike
Machine Zone’s long-awaited follow-up to the mobile hit Game of War is another game of war. As reported by Venture Beat, Machine Zone’s new studio Epic War today launched its military base-building game Mobile Strike on Google Play, Amazon, and iOS.
And just as Game of War had Kate Upton and now Mariah Carey, so too does Mobile Strike have its own celebrity spokesperson in the form of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“We are very excited about the launch of Mobile Strike and are thrilled to have an icon like Arnold Schwarzenegger as our partner and personification of the game,” Machine Zone CEO Gabe Leydon told the site. “We decided to adopt the tried-and true-studio model that many developers employ and are also excited to announce Epic War, our new studio whose staff is devoted to developing and managing this new game. The new studio will allow us to maintain the existing, dedicated resources to Game of War and in fact, we intend to grow the GOW-focused engineering and customer service teams. We are constantly striving to improve the game experience for our passionate and loyal players.”
Mobile Strike had been soft launched in multiple territories for months of testing before today’s global release. As with Game of War, it is a free-to-play game driven by microtransactions that run from a couple dollars up to $100. Unlike Game of War, the $100 option is not yet the top in-app purchase in Mobile Strike on the App Store. As of this writing, players are more frequently picking up $5 and $20 bundles of in-game gold.（source：gamesindustry.biz ）
