1,Do you like turn-based tactical battles? How about the spirit-crushing nature of the roguelike genre? And dark fantasy settings?

If you said yes to any (or all) of those questions, you’re probably going to want to keep an eye on World of Dungeons, the upcoming “hardcore roguelike RPG ” from developer Herocraft.

Players will be able to choose from a variety of classes, equip “hundreds” of class specific items, a delve deep into dungeons to quench their bloodlust and/or treasure-hoarding tendencies. Herocraft are also promising “fierce boss fights” and a PvP mode where you’ll be able to test your band of heroes against the teams of other players.

While Herocraft dabbles in multiple genres (we quite liked 2014’s Marble Duel), most of their success has been in the strategy games market. They’ve even tackled strategic turn-based tactical battles before with Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf, which was no doubt a good learning experience for them before tackling a project like this.(source:gamezebo.com

2,Mobile games put in a good show at the UK’s top gaming award show – BAFTA Games Awards – scooping a healthy handful of the little gold faces.

PocketGamer.biz was on hand at the Tobacco Dock in London where Monument Valley was one of the most nominated games of the entire ceremony.

Made by London developer ustwo, it had nabbed five nominations, finally landing the awards for Best British Game and Best Mobile & Handheld game.

80 Days, Inkle Studios’ globe-trotting adventure game, won Best in Story against The Last of Us: Left Behind, Far Cry 4, and The Wolf Among Us.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft won the Best Multiplayer category, beating off competition from Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Destiny, and Mario Kart 8. (source:pocketgamer

3,Games are a remarkably agile medium – they can squeeze in anywhere. Whenever a new digital platform emerges, whether its a tablet, augmented reality headset or smart home security system, games are never far behind. Humans, like most animals, are natural players.

With the gradual, lumbering rise of the smartwatch, however, games have so far played a limited role. The stores on the Pebble and Android Wear devices are mostly filled with fitness and convenience applications, which is sensible considering the form factor of these things: they’re small, they’re attached to you and they have accelerometers to track movement. Hence, dozens of gamified jogging apps.

There are more games that don’t require running, of course, but so far they have been mostly restricted to simple ports of classics like Tetris, Pac-Man and Tamagotchi. According to Will Luton, designer of Pixel Miner, one of the most successful Pebble games so far, these are the wrong approaches: “Integrating heart rate and pedometers obtrusively into game loops or attempting to shrink down smartphone titles onto a smaller device may get some traction early on as
players explore the device and it’s capabilities, but they won’t be sustainable.”

Love it or hate it, when Apple enters a market, it brings with it an earthquake of hype and an accompanying tsunami of fresh developer interest. So how could things change with smartwatch games in the near future?(source:theguardian.com

4,Two months since it announced that it had hit the 1.5 billion download mark, and now mobile ad platform StartApp has passed the 350 million MAU milestone with 150,000 integrated apps.

Founded in 2010, the New York-based company boasts more than 500 active advertisers who use StartApp’s data driven ads to engage with users.

StartApp works by helping publishers monetize, distribute and advertise apps and mobile websites.

“We are optimistic about our growth rate in the new year,” said Itay Rokni, CMO at StartApp.

“Though the company continues its mission to enhance the brand and performance of our publishers and advertisers, we will make sure that we do not become complacent. As we have reached these new milestones, we will continue our focus on innovation, new product offerings and smart ways to grow the company worldwide.”(source:pocketgamer.biz
