1,NetEase is responsible for operating publisher Blizzard’s massive games like World of Warcraft and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft in China, and now the company has plans to start working in the United States market.

The company is setting up a division in the U.S. led by David Ting, who will act as general manager of NetEase North America. The publisher already employs more than 3,600 people in China, and this new Western initiative will combine that manpower with Ting’s expertise to build a lineup of mobile games specifically for Western audiences. The U.S. is one of the top spending markets for mobile gaming — spending isn’t as big in Android-heavy China — and a primary driver behind the $25 billion in revenues that smartphone and tablet games generated in 2014.

The company already has several new releases in the works that it plans to launch on iOS and Android in American and European markets this year. That includes its first mobile game, Speedy Ninja, which is an endless runner.

“We’re a very product-focused company,” Ting told GamesBeat. “It’s very exciting for us to release our first mobile game. The first game is Speedy Ninja, and it has a lot of interesting mechanics and specialized art.”(source:venturebeat.com

2,The long-awaited PC edition of Grand Theft Auto V is going to be even longer awaited than previously thought. Rockstar Games today announced it will delay the game’s release until April 14.

This is the third time Rockstar has postponed the game’s launch. When the developer announced the PC port of the game last June, it was expected to arrive in the fall, alongside the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. The console editions of the game made that launch window, while the PC version’s date was pushed to January, and then to March.

“Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game, but a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC,” the company explained on the game’s official site. “As a gesture of thanks for your understanding, we will grant anyone who has pre-ordered the game an additional $200,000 in-game cash for use in GTA Online.”

The PC version of the game will include some features not seen in previous ports of Grand Theft Auto V, including the Rockstar Editor, which will allow for players to create and edit their own custom gameplay videos.(source:gamesindustry

Perviously, we wrote a bit about our initial reaction to the game’s showing last month at PAX South. As spin-off of Civilization: Beyond Earth, Sid Meier’ s Starships has players commanding a starfleet whose primary mission is to expand the borders of their territory. This is done by recruiting the allegiance of the planets sprinkled across the game’s map.

To gain the favor of a particular planet, the player is required to complete a handful of tasks requested by the planet’s civilization. Completing each task will wear out the player’s crew, so only so much can be accomplished each turn.(source:gamezebo.com

4,Less than a week after announcing $24 million in funding from Warner Bros the media network Machinima has confirmed more job cuts. It will also end a handful of programs and close its popular Machinima Respawn YouTube channel.

“As Machinima positions itself for the future, we must focus resources toward high-growth opportunities. Toward that end, today Machinima released 13 production staff associated with Respawn, TFTW and certain shows on Machinima LIVE as this content was simply not delivering the monetization that supports our path to profitability,” the company confirmed to Variety.

“Machinima is in development on its expanded 2015-16 original programming slate, details of which will be unveiled at its Newfront presentation on May 4.
