1，2K and Firaxis Games have announced the launch of XCOM: Enemy Within on iOS, Android and Amazon Fire devices worldwide. The strategy game was originally released on home consoles and computers, and offers what 2K calls a “triple-A gaming experience” for players. It’s also a standalone expansion of XCOM:

Enemy Unknown, which hit mobile in 2013.

In XCOM: Enemy Within, players are presented with new soldier abilities, new weapons and equipment, new enemies to battle, and new plot-driven missions.

XCOM: Enemy Within takes players through turn-based battles in a world being invaded by extraterrestrials. During battle, players tap on individual units and tap again to guide them through the world, with a focus on taking cover behind debris, cars and other objects. When attacking enemies, players can choose from a variety of options, firing with standard weapons or tossing grenades, as examples.

Players are shown a percentage detailing the likelihood their attack will be successful, and players can move closer to enemies to make attacking easier. Players must also keep in mind, however, that moving away from cover (or into partial cover) makes them vulnerable to attacks from others.

In between battles, players can upgrade their characters. The Genetics Lab allows soldiers to unlock genetic modifications, while a Cybernetics Lab gives units access to mechanized suits. Units can also be equipped with new weapons, depending on their class. 2，Japanese messaging service LINE and Chinese internet giant Tencent, are working together to bring more content to their respective platforms.

Both companies have pumped $110 million into Korean game developer 4:33 Creative Lab in order to secure original game content for their messaging services.

Both LINE and Tencent’s messaing service Weixin/WeChat earn significant revenue from gaming, and they will be hoping 4:33 can deliver original titles with the ability to keep users engaged.

LINE COO Takeshi Idezawa has revealed that the hefty investment only a small drop in the vast ocean that is the firm’s global investment strategy.

“We’re just getting started on our global investment strategy. We’re going global hand-in=hand,” said Idezawa, speaking to TechCrunch.

3，The Kentucky-based horse-racing and casino firm Churchill Downs has acquired Big Fish Games, with the deal potentially valued at $885 million.

That figure includes a base payment of $485 million, with $350 million in earnouts for the company as whole, and a possible $50 million payment just for Big Fish CEO Paul Thelen based on the company’s bookings in 2016. All of the above will be paid in cash, save for $15 million in Churchill Downs stock for Thelen.Churchill arrived at the $485 million figure after increasing its EBITDA for the year leading up to September 30 2014 ($57.3 million) by 8.5 times. The deal as been approved by the board of directors at both companies, and the transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.

4，Mobile game developer Dots has announced the launch of TwoDots on Facebook. The game was released on iOS devices in the Summer of 2014, and has been played by over 20 million people worldwide. In TwoDots, players complete puzzle levels by drawing lines to connect two or more colored dots in a row. With this Facebook release, players who have connected their mobile experience to their Facebook account can carry their progress across devices.

Each level of TwoDots has a different goal and move limit. One level, for instance, may ask players to clear 15 each of red, green, blue and yellow dots within 30 moves, while another challenges players to bring anchor symbols to the bottom of the screen by removing the dots underneath them (and so on). While playing, lines can be created between dots either vertically or horizontally, but not diagonally.
