其次，在线游戏过去几年一直不受宠皆因当地网速偏慢，但最近美国政府宣布高速宽带网络将在2012年前覆盖全美，这一消息开始让人们再次对在线游戏心生向往，因此在线游戏的行情走俏也只是一个时间问题。除此之外，风生水起的智能手机游戏也让掌机游戏备受重创。

KOCCA: Online Games Expected to Replace Console Games in USA

According to the news released days ago, the overseas game market survey results announced by KOCCA (Korean Culture & Content Agency) show that between 2010 and 2014, the American console game market is expected to enjoy an average annual growth rate of 4.8% only, while its online game market and mobile game market 12.5% and 10.8% respectively.

In America, as the console games took a market share of 64.7% in 2007, the figure is expected to drop to 57.9% in 2011. On the contrary, the market share of online games, which was less than 5% in America in 2007, is expected to rise to 7.1% in 2010.

Japan, which is called “Game Kingdom”, also faces similar things. Console games there have recently encountered a seriously declining market share, and seem to be replayed by online games and mobile games gradually.

There’re mainly two reasons for the declining market share of console games in America. First, consoles are too expensive to be favored by gamers, especially at the time of economic depression.

Second, online games’ unpopularity in America in the past was mainly caused by the terribly low network speed. But the news, released by the American government not long ago and saying that high-speed broadband network will cover all American families by 2012, will nevertheless catch more attention from the American people in the future.
