*2015年亚太地区将成为最活跃的多屏幕服务家用市场;

*从2010至2015年,用户观看视频的时间复合年增长率将达88%;

*2015年将有2.73亿家庭用户使用多屏幕服务。

1)Multiscreen content to gross $21 billion in 2015

by Tim Green

273 million households will be using some kind of multiscreen service.

New stats from NPD In-Stat assert that the consumption of video content shared across tablets, smartphones, laptops, netbooks and in-car is set to soar.

This is being reflected in the growth of services that work across multiple screens from firms such as Amazon, Apple, BSkyB, Canal+, Hulu Plus, Netflix, Ooyala, Rovi, UltraViolet and more.

Among the report’s conclusions are that:

* Asia Pacific will have the most active multiscreen households by 2015.

* The CAGR for viewing hours is expected to be about 88 per cent from 2010 through 2015

* Western Europe is expected to be a growth market for subscription-based multiscreen content delivery platforms.

* Price competition is expected in a few years from the pay-TV TV Everywhere services.

* 273 million households will be using some kind of multiscreen service by 2015.

“Consumers now expect to have professional video available on an ever-expanding number of devices, and they want their ‘user experience’ to be under their control,” said Gerry

Kaufhold, research director at NPD In-Stat.

“It’s no longer simply a matter of delivering 1080p 3D video to their device, they want to share what they are viewing with their connected community, they want to upload their own additions to the content, and they want to be able to engage with their content on whatever device provides the best experience at any particular time.”(source:mobile-ent

2)Kindle Fire ships over 3m units?

by Zen Terrelonge

If true, the device could be no.2 to Apple’s iPad.

Amazon’s Kindle Fire is the talk of the town and while the general consensus is positive, some believe the device won’t be able to go the distance.

Digitimes says Amazon’s manufacturer Quanta will has shipped between three and four million units already since last month’s release.

If the sources are to be believed it’s likely that Black Friday and Cyber Monday will have contributed significantly to device sales.

In a marketplace where the likes of Apple’s iPad retails at $499, the Kindle Fire costs just $199, which has become the key USP for the device. Presumably that’s why the device is expected to sell five million units by 2012.

In September, we reported tablet shipments for the year, which predicted Apple would ship 39.2 million units, Samsung would ship seven million and RIM would ship 1.5 million.(source:mobile-ent

3)Mobile apps approach the 1m milestone

by Zen Terrelonge

Search and discovery analytics engine Mobilewalla claims the big six-zero figure for total individual mobile apps is just around the corner as today’s count reached 989,476.

Mobilewalla tracks it’s figures in real-time and the growth is being pushed by an average of 2,000 apps entering the market each day.

The one million milestone stretches across four platforms including:

Anindya Datta, founder and exec chairman of Mobilewalla, said: “This is truly an astonishing accomplishment that cannot be ignored. The growth of apps is the fastest growing consumer segment in the history of commerce.(source:mobile-ent

4)Number Of Niche App Stores Has Doubled Every Year Since 2009

By Alicia Eler

A new study from research2guidance shows that the market for apps is continually moving toward segmentation and niche stores. The Apple app store, which launched in July 2008, has contributed significantly to the rise of niche apps. The study defines three types of niche stores: Platform-oriented (apps for a specific OS platform such as AndroidPIT or Crackberry a.k.a. BlackBerry), target group-oriented (apps for a segment of users, such as business, adults, kids) and carve outs (mobile network operator with its own app store in the Android Market or something like “@work” by Apple).

Some all-encompassing apps do not stand up to niche apps, which take a more focused look at a smaller segment of the bigger picture. For example, CapAndCompass.com wrote about the difference between the University of Virginia’s “everything” app, which looks like an entire university jammed onto a screen versus the niche University of Georgia undergraduate admissions and career center apps.

There is an estimated 500,000 apps in the Android Market. The Apple App Store boasts more than 500,000 apps for the iPhone4S alone.(source:readwriteweb

5)Guess What? iPhone Users Make Up Only 10% Of Mobile Subscribers

By Alicia Eler

What’s an Android user to do about this not-so-shocking fact? Rejoice?

A new report from ComScore tries to make it look like 10% of iPhone users is a huge marketshare when, really, it’s not. For the three month period ending October 2011, reports showed that 234 million Americans ages 13-and-older used mobile devices. Apple has bumped its way up to number four, trailing behind Samsung, LG and Motorola. It did pass up RIM.

What might actually be more significant than the amount of mobile subscribers achieved by Apple is that of the five brands listed in this report, Apple is the only one that has actually gained more subscribers over the past three months alone. And just to be clear, this data was collected before the launch of the iPhone4S.

To be precise, Apple owns only 10.8% of mobile subscribers, while Samsung has 25.5%, LG has 20.6%. Motorola clocks in above Appel at 13.6%, while RIM lags behind just a bit with only 6.6% of mobile subscribers.

As of October 2011, 90 million people in the United States owned smartphones. Google tops that list, too, with a total of 46.3% of mobile subscribers. Apple comes in second with 28.1% of mobile subscribers.

It’s a good thing both ComScore and I both included iPhone in the headline. After all, who cares about Google’s mobile market share, really…(source:readwriteweb

6)Facebook Commits To HTML5 With Mobile Developer Relations Hire

by Tom Curtis

Today, Facebook further emphasized its commitment to HTML5 and mobile development by announcing it has hired web developer James Pearce as the company’s new mobile head of developer relations, reports paidContent.

Prior to joining Facebook, Pearce headed up developer relations at Sensha, which creates mobile development frameworks that help developers create web-content in HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript.

For Facebook, hiring Pearce is just the latest in the company’s series of mobile-focused moves. In October, Facebook made a notable push toward HTML5 with the launch of its new mobile app that lets users play web-based mobile games like Zynga’s FarmVille Express, Wooga’s Magic Land: Island, and Moblyng’s Social Poker Live.

Major Facebook game developers, including Zynga, set out to bring even more of their social games to mobile devices, giving Facebook more incentive to support these games on its own mobile platform.(source:gamasutra
