1)According to Shenzhen Economic Daily, although webgame seems to produce sudden huge profits, only 5% developers can achieve success in this market.

Referring to an article from Shenzhen Economic Daily, webgame can be categorized by two different kinds. The first kind is those downward games which have strong generality but fewer characteristics. Most of these games also have weak competition and opposability, and gamers would not willing to pay for them. The other kind is those active development online games (mostly large games) which have strong opposability and playability also with high competitive risks.

Shenzhen Economic Daily predicted that the monthly input costs of one large webgame could reach ¥ 200 thousand to ¥ 300 thousand, the development cycle would be 7 months to 8 months and the input accounts could exceed ¥2 million.

The market size of China webgame was ¥100 million in 2007, ¥350 million in 2008, ¥990 million in 2009 and has reached ¥3.1 billion in 2010.

Webgame is also an industry which has high mortalities and only 5% companies can get profits in this market. (Southcn.com)

2)China Economy & informatization has interviewed Xie Wen against the topic of renren.com’s going public. Xie Wen said that renren.com’s listing would not influence the development of SNS industry,

because it was just a change of capital market and China SNS would still advance along a meandering road (because of the lower threshold, a company’s listing will not equal to the totally success but just means entering into another phrase during its development).

Xie Wen also analyzed that China web service still cannot provide a convenient and perfect online environment like Facebook which can present a whole web life and SNS to users. (hexun.com)

3)According to MOL (Medianews On Line), Institute For Information Industry said that there were 90.4% Internet users ever used SNS and 62.9% frequently used SNS. There are even nearly 79.4% users are using Facebook.

Except Facebook, Taiwan SNS users also frequently visit Wretch and Yahoo Kimo Blog, etc. But the most popular Google Blogger and Twitter in the whole world can just attract less 10% users in Taiwan.

Referring to the gender ration in SNS, female users take up 68.7% while male users take up 59.3%. But the condition is different in BBS discussion, from which male proportion accounts for 65.2% and female proportion accounts for 34.8%. (MOL)
