4)Dynamic Music in Upcoming iPhone Game Creates More Emotional Experience

Yousaf wanted to create something that had more emotional impact on the player while complimenting the hand drawn world the game depicts. He writes on the studio blog

“Just because an iphone game is supposed to be quick and simple to play, it doesn’t mean it can’t have a well thought out soundtrack that does something interesting”.

The music in Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse is event based. Each element of the game has its own theme or sound. The different sonic elements then combine in different ways depending on the events of the game.

Yousaf has previously made music for theatre and TV so creating musical themes that signify characters and moods is quite natural to him. Applying this in a dynamic way to an interactive game took some trial and error. The end result has added an element of depth that the makers think add to the game’s replay value.

The studio believe that the only real way to stand out in a crowded app store is to create something of great quality that provides an engaging experience. Although this is their debut app they believe it will be the first step of creating a series of innovative and enjoyable experiences that help to raise the standard of music used in mobile gaming.

The exact release date is to be confirmed but emails will be sent to announce the release of the game to anyone on the studio’s mailing list.(source:prmac

5)Windows Phone to overtake Android by 2015 claims Pyramid Research

Also thinks smartphones will account for 53 per cent of total handset sales that year.

Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform has been subject to continual speculation about poor handset sales in recent months, but one analyst thinks the company is set for big success in the coming years.

Pyramid Research’s latest smartphone forecasts report includes the prediction that by 2015, Windows Phone will overtake Google’s Android OS to become the most popular smartphone OS.

More generally, Pyramid thinks that 1.46 billion handsets will be sold to end users (as opposed to merely shipped) in 2011, with 27% of them being smartphones – 394.2 million.

However, in 2015, Pyramid thinks smartphones will account for 53% of all handset sales, although it cites ‘demand for inexpensive Android models’ as one of the key factors, rather than the surge in Windows Phone sales.

Indeed, the company sees a big demand for these phones from manufacturers like ZTE and Huawei as driving market growth even in the richer European, Asian and North American markets this year.(source:mobile-ent
