1、A Day in the Life of a Turret(电影短片,引擎:入口)

A Day in the Life of a Turret

2、Anachronox: The Movie(标准影片,引擎:源毒)

3、Apartment Huntin(电影短片,引擎:雷神之锤)

Apartment Huntin

4、Civil Protection(影视剧,引擎:半条命2)

Civil Protection

6、The G-Mod Idiot Box(影视剧,引擎:半条命2)

7、It’s a Wonderful Live(此影视剧已停播,引擎:光晕三部曲)

It's a Wonderful Live

8、The Leet World(影视剧,引擎:反恐精英)

The Leet World

9、Jordan vs. Jordan(搞笑视频,引擎:NBA 2011)

Jordan vs. Jordan

11、Red vs. Blue(影视剧,引擎:光晕三部曲、马拉松三部曲、光晕3:ODST和光晕:致远星)

Red vs. Blue

12、Sanity Not Included(影视剧,引擎:多款视频游戏)

Sanity Not Included

13、Trashmaster(电影,引擎:侠盗猎车手4)

Trashmaster

The 13 Best Machinima Projects

Ever since gamers started recording speed-run videos on Quake, the template was laid for “machinima,” the art of creating films with video games. From Unreal Tournament to Halo to Grand Theft Auto, there’s always new series popping up all over the Internet, giving fans the ability to have fun with their favorite games. From the rough, early days of machinima to the hyper-polished productions coming out today, we’ve watched hundreds of videos (short and long) and found 13 of the best projects that you’ll find on the Internet.

A Day in the Life of a Turret (Short Film, Portal)

From the creators of The Leet World, A Day in the Life of a Turret takes a look at Portal’s under-loved mascots, the murderous Turrets. Just what DO they do all day in the empty confines of Aperture Science? Judging from this short film, the same things that any bored pair of pals do: talk about TV shows, argue the finer points of Halo against Call of Duty, or when all else fails, simply just snipe at each other.

Anachronox: The Movie (Full-Length Feature, Anachronox)

For the most part, various machinima projects have usually comprised of short episodes later collected into seasons. Anachronox: The Movie was the first machinima to premiere as a feature length production (running for two hours and 16 minutes) and was pieced together from cut-scenes of the cult hit PC game. At the time, it was considered the most ambitious machinima to date, thanks in no small part to the amount of editing that was needed to crop out the gameplay and stitch together the lengthy narrative.
Apartment Huntin’ (Short Film, Quake)

The ILL Clan is one of the oldest machinima groups still working today, with Apartment Huntin’ debuting among their first films. Possibly the most cartoon-like of the early machinima videos, Apartment Huntin’ made great use of voice acting and special effects that would be an element in several of their movies. By far, the ILL Clan’s most recent claim to fame was their participation in episodes of CSI: NY, using machinima techniques for plot angles revolving around the game Second Life.

Civil Protection (Series, Half-Life 2)

Civil Protection, filmed and written by Accursed Farms, follows a pair of Combine police officers (one of whom sounds remarkably like Ray Romano) as they go about their day-to-day patrols. Each episode is a standalone script, but the social commentary is both hilarious and way ahead of its time.

Diary of a Camper (Short Film, Quake)

Diary of a Camper is usually credited as the first machinima video, pieced together from footage of Quake by United Ranger Films, a group of death-match players also known as “The Rangers”. Although voice acting is not included, Diary of a Camper used prerecorded footage and text dialogue to tell a story, rather than just show simple gameplay. United Ranger Films would create other machinima projects, like the “Ranger Gone Bad” and “Torn Apart” series, but the machinima community at large credits this as the first film told with a 3D game engine.

The G-Mod Idiot Box (Series, Half-Life 2)

Often described as “Garry’s Mod does Robot Chicken,” the G-Mod Idiot Box is a collection of shorts by Das Bo Schitt. Using characters, set pieces, and general tools from Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead (among other things), the shorts range from one-shot Internet meme jokes to repeated sketches with reoccurring characters like “Chuckles the Cheat,” Father Grigori, and “Gravity Cat”. As is often the case, each episode takes a long time to finish production, something that Das Bo Schitt often references in his opening skits.

It’s a Wonderful Live (Cancelled Series, Halo Trilogy)

Although this discontinued series by machinima creator Jon Graham (formerly known as “DigitalPh33r”) didn’t make it past three episodes, it was notable for being a kind of public service announcement aimed at the terrible habits of the online gaming community. Cursing, character defamation, weapon camping – all such subjects are addressed in this collection of videos, many of which being things that Graham would encounter during filming of his other series, “Arby N The Chief”.

The Leet World (Series, Counter-Strike)

One of the most polished Counter-Strike machinima to date, The Leet World by SmoothFewFilms is a clear riff on MTV’s “The Real World,” with the spoiled twenty-somethings replaced by four terrorists and counter-terrorists. While the show has been know for its excellent writing, some of the best lines are delivered by “Player,” the only character who communicated solely via text “l33t” speak. Although the series ended about a year ago, it’s still available to watch on YouTube, where the episodes are actually being re-released in high-definition video.

Jordan vs. Jordan (Fan Video, NBA2K11)

“MessenjahMatt” is famous for expertly crafted fan trailers built from footage in the NBA2K video game series, but some of his most widely acclaimed videos came on the tail end of NBA2K11, which famously secured the rights to the likeness of Michael Jordan. In this entry, MessenjahMatt recreates one of Gatorade’s most popular advertisements, using the in-game engine to emulate the one-on-one pick-up game between present-day Jordan and his younger “Chicago Bulls” persona.

Make Love, Not Warcraft (TV Episode, South Park; World of Warcraft)

While South Park Studios arguably had the necessary animation tools to simulate their own Warcraft experience, it was collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment that made this machinima possible. In this popular South Park episode, Blizzard used the alpha server of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade to direct the “game world” sequences. It was one of the first times that gaming developers had satirized their own work in a machinima project, giving South Park one of their most famous video game moments yet.

Red vs. Blue (Series; Halo Trilogy, Marathon Trilogy, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach)

Arguably one of the most popular machinima series of the last decade, Red vs. Blue (by Rooster Teeth Productions) is a multi-season epic that spans dozen of episodes revolving around a civil war amongst the United Nations Space Command. Often described as “South Park meets Halo,” Red vs. Blue is notable as one of the only machinima to incorporate footage from eight different video games, and one of the few series that evolved with the production of its attached video game series. As a result of its popularity, special Red vs. Blue shorts have been featured in conduction with several gaming events like E3 and the Penny Arcade Expo.

Sanity Not Included (Series, Multiple Video Games)

What the G-Mod Idiot Box is to Valve Games, “Sanity Not Included” is to every other video game in the world. By far, this machinima series by “Guitarmasterx7″ and “Dexterboy124″ is most unique among others in that it’s not tied to any particular game. Halo, Marvel vs. Capcom, Final Fantasy and many others are all equal pickings, and SNI crams a plethora of jokes and odd humor into every frame. If you like this series, the creators of SNI are also known for their work on separate projects like “Brawlgasm” and “Phoenix Wright: Bullshit Evolved”.

Trashmaster (Film, Grand Theft Auto IV)

Titled after the vehicle of the same game in Grand Theft Auto, “The Trashmaster” is a full-length film made entirely from footage of GTA IV. Pieced together by artist Mathieu Weschler (he’s French), this 88-minute action epic follows the footsteps of a trash collector who hunts down the occasional rapist, drug dealer, and bank robber. While there are plenty of other GTA machinima out there, Weschler’s eye for direction is on full display, with the camera work very closely mimicking the kind of shots you’d see from “The Mechanic” or “The Departed”. To its credit, The Trashmaster can officially be called an award winning foreign film, having received special honors at events like the Festival du Nouveau Cinema Montreal and the Festival Atopic de Paris. Even Rockstar Games likes the effort, so there might be bigger things ahead for Weschler – hopefully more excellent machinima like this. (Source: GamePro)
