The size of China’s online game and mobile game markets totaled 34.9 billion yuan in 2010, according to the 2010 Annual Report on China’s Online Game Market released by the Ministry of Culture (MOC).
The report shows that the numbers of China’s online game play users exceeded 120 million by the end of last year, up more than 37 percent from 2009. Although the market size growth rate slid for the second consecutive year in 2010 to 26.2 percent, the increase rate in user numbers exceeded that of market size, showing that the market still maintained healthy development.
In 2010, market share of webpage games increased 4.27 percentage points from a year ago; and mobile game market growth exceeded online game market growth to be 0.7 percentage point faster than that 2009.
Exports of China-made online games remained high last year, and the revenues earned from oversea market surged 116 percent year on year to about 230 million U.S. dollars, and the varieties of exported online game models exceeded 100. More China-based game companies entered oversea markets. (Source: TMCnet)
