Microsoft Shows Off Windows Phone 7/Kinect Interaction

Despite heavily promoted abilities such as Xbox Live integration, Windows Phone 7 failed to catch on with many gamers or anyone, selling only 40,000 units on the day of launch across nine different phone hardware models. One of the widest complaints about the platform was that it was not appreciably different from better established smartphone platforms like Blackberry, Android or iOS but plans are being set in motion to change that with integration with other Microsoft owned platforms.

Speaking at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer showed off what was called Rally Ball [thanks Gamasutra]. The demonstration had two Windows 7 phones that projected balls flying towards a Kinect that a third player dodged.

Rally Ball is not a game that they planned to release, but it is an interesting display of what might be possible with Windows Phone 7 and Kinect.（source:gamedaily）
