Glu Mobile to develop games for tablets with Nvidia chips

Jan 5 (Reuters) – Mobile game developer Glu Mobile Inc (GLUU.O) said it would partner with graphics chip giant Nvidia Corp (NVDA.O) to develop games for tablets that run Google’s (GOOG.O) Android, sending its shares up as much as 18 percent.

Glu is working with Nvidia to develop games that will use the advanced capabilities of Tegra processors, it said in a statement.

Tegra chips help speed up Internet browsing and accelerates graphics on mobile devices.

Nvidia has a partnership with Google and expects tablet-like devices that use Tegra chips and run on the Android operating system to be released early next year.

Glu Mobile is the publisher of social games such as ‘Deer Hunter’ and ‘Gun Bros,’ and has partnerships with entertainment firms such as Activision (ATVI.O), Atari, Caesar’s and Fox.

Shares of the San Mateo, California-based company were trading up 28 cents at $2.50 on Wednesday morning on Nasdaq, having touched a high of $2.62 earlier in the session. They have almost doubled in value over the last 52 weeks. （source:reuters）
